Why
is it good for the birder?
Perfectly situated above the Boulders penguin reserve and
close to the pelagic departure point, Avian Leisure is a
dedicated birding base offering the more independent birder
a self catering option with sweeping views of the bay. Regular
sightings on the mountain fynbos slopes around the house
include Cape Sugarbird, Cape Bulbul, Orange-breasted Sunbird,
Southern (Lesser) Double-collared Sunbird, Grassbird, Karoo
(Spotted) Prinia, Southern Boubou, Cape Canary and Cape
Francolin. Southern Right Whales and dolphins are regularly
observed in season. Hiking up the mountain holds the possibility
of Jackal Buzzard, Black Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, White-necked
Raven and Cape Siskin.
Your hosts: Patrick
and Mel Cardwell are active and highly experienced birders
with an intimate knowledge of not only South West Cape Birds
but Southern and East African species and localities as
well. Always happy to assist adding value to any birder's
stay.
Rates:
High
Season (Nov '04 - Mar '05): R225.00 per person, Low Season

Xmas month (12 Dec - 12 Jan): Min charge is R900.00 per
