Seasonality of Rare Birds recorded in Western South Africa:

Africa’s most southwestern corner is known throughout southern Africa as the region’s rarity hotspot. While many of these vagrants are pelagic seabirds (see Seabirding), the majority are migrant waders from Europe and the Americas. There is seasonal variation between species, and all the western South African records of important vagrants are summarized in the table below.

All records included in this list are those accepted by the South African National Rare Bird Committee, with a few exceptions having been made for recent, well-substantiated records. This table should be treated as a guide and not a reference.
